Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the questions that seem to always be on everyone’s minds. Hopefully your question will be answered here. If not, let me know and I will add it to the list!


#1- How much are costumes?


Costumes cost between $25-30. This includes a T-shirt with our name and logo and black jazz pants. Optional items for purchase are: pom-pons, extra T-shirts, and hats worn by our older members.


#2- Are performances required?


No. Performances are encouraged but not required. The performances provide a good experience for performing in front of groups of people.


#3- Can my child join if they aren’t quite 7 years old yet?


This totally depends on the child. If your child is 6 and will be 7 very soon, think about your child’s ability to listen, pay attention, copy basic dance steps once taught, etc… Some 8 year olds are very ready to begin and keep up with the 8 and 9 year olds. However, some kids who are 6 are better off waiting until the following session to join.


#4- How many performances are there each session?


We usually do 2 or 3 performances each session. Typical ones we have done in the past include: St. Luke’s Festival of Trees, Cedar Rapids Holiday Parade, Cedar Rapids Public Library, Kirkwood Basketball Games and we usually perform at one retirement center each session. Other performances we have done in the past that we don’t do EVERY year are: Lindale Mall, Swamp Fox Festival, and performing at area schools.


#5- My child has NO dance experience, can they still join?


Yes. No dance experience is required to join. We start off with pretty basic steps and get more advanced as the year progresses. If your child is a very experienced dancer, they might tend to pick things up quicker. Some of our students have been on the team for 2-3 years and have an easier time of it as well. However, it is fine to start the team with no dance experience.
